| Beloit is located in a part of Kansas famous for
its hunting. Nearby Waconda Lake attracts fishermen from all over
the country. These factors make Beloit a great place for people who
enjoy the outdoors.
Community recreation activities also include the playground
equipment, three soccer fields, nine softball and baseball fields,
three football fields, two swimming pools, a
golf course, several tennis courts, a frisbee golf course and a
horseshoe area in Chautauqua Park.
The Municipal Swimming Pool and bath house in Chautauqua Park, built
in the 1930's and renovated in the early 1970's, is approximately
75' by 150' with two one-meter diving boards and a new 125 foot
water slide. A separate fenced in wading pool is available for
children under the age of five. Red Cross swimming lessons and
water exercise classes are available. An indoor swimming pool is
also available at the North Central Kansas Technical College.
The Municipal Building is available for walking, volleyball,
basketball, meetings, craft and trade shows, community concerts, and stage events. The basement area has a
kitchen facility for community events and dinners along with meeting
rooms for groups and clubs. The building also has a weight room for
community use.
Beloit has a private nine-hole golf course with grass greens.
The Beloit bowling alley has eight lanes with a snack bar.
Other sports activities include softball, baseball, soccer,
basketball, bowling leagues, kids wrestling, track, and gymnastics
programs.
